Curator’s Introduction: Angelica Kauffman at the Royal Academy

Monday 25th March 6.00PM GMT

In March 2024, the Royal Academy of Arts in London will celebrate the life and work of Angelica Kauffman (1741-1807), a founding member of the Royal Academy and one of the most acclaimed artists of the 18th century. Presenting history paintings as well as portraits, including some of her finest self-portraits, the exhibition will trace Kauffman’s artistic career from child prodigy to one of Europe’s most sought-after painters. The exhibition will feature over 30 artworks by Kauffman and include important international loans, many of which have never been seen in the UK before.

This evening we are delighted to welcome the exhibition co-curator and catalogue author, Annette Wickham, who will present an introductory lecture.

Annette Wickham is Curator of Works on Paper at the Royal Academy of Arts. She has curated and co-curated numerous displays and exhibitions including Constable, Gainsborough, Turner and the Making of Landscape (2013) and Daniel Maclise: The Waterloo Cartoon (2015). She was previously an Assistant Curator at the V&A Museum.

This is a live-streamed lecture at 6.00pm (UK time).  It will last approximately one hour including Q&A. Tune in live from anywhere in the world, or if you cannot participate live, you will automatically be sent a recording soon after the end of the session enabling you to watch later that day or during the following 2 days. Please note, the recording is only available to those who have not been able to participate live, and it is not possible to purchase a recording after booking has closed.
