Cultural Travels From Home

In 2020 Art History in Focus Director Siân Walters launched a new series of online, live walking tours, museum visits and demonstrations collaborating with friends and colleagues around the world, enabling us to enjoy cultural experiences together.  We are the first organisation in the world to have devised and arranged many of these visits and remain the sole provider of virtual tours with many of the museums, who are allowing us private access often outside normal opening hours.

Contact us to arrange a private online visit for your group. We have a special arrangement with a number of major European art galleries allowing virtual access to their collections, from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice to the Castello Storzesco in Milan. We are proud to have devised and presented the world’s first ever livestream tours of the Medici Palace in Florence, the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi, the Ca’ Rezzonico in Venice, the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan, the Basilica of San Marco in Venice, the Palazzo Baldeschi in Perugia, the Palazzo Colonna in Rome, the Kremlin in Moscow and many more. Get in touch and allow us to arrange a unique experience for you!

The webinars will enable you to gain special access to sites, studios and galleries, many of which have been closed or difficult to visit, whilst at the same time providing a wonderful opportunity to travel virtually from home, no matter your location. Our visits will also support both galleries and individuals working in the cultural sector whose activities have been affected by the pandemic.  We will take care of all of the organisation and hosting, using the Zoom webinar platform.  Simply choose from a selection of events in which we visit artists, art historians and guides in various cities and enjoy an hour’s guided tour, virtual museum visit or demonstration.  The visits are live and interactive, allowing your guests to ask questions throughout the presentation.

Here is some feedback from the museum directors and staff:

“It was a fantastic experience … a new vision about the museum! I hope to repeat such an exciting event!”
Dr Gabriella Belli, Director, Fondazione Musei Civici, Venice

“It was a great honour to work together. For this, I’m really grateful to you. Hoping to meet you very soon in Perugia, I hope also to have future opportunities for a new collaboration very soon!”
Dr Maria Cristina De Angelis, Director, Fondazione Cariperugia Arte, Perugia

“I enjoyed the tour so much, thank you for the great opportunity you gave to the museum and to your guests. In this peculiar period, art can really be a source of comfort and inspiration, even at a distance. We made this happen!”

We can provide expert live online lectures and courses for up to 1000 guests, arranged to suit your particular requirements. Please get in touch if you would like us to arrange an event for you.

We examine themes such as style, technique and symbolism in art, covering a wide range of periods and schools.  For further information and to discuss options for your group, please send us an email. We would be delighted to assist you and look forward to hearing from you.

“Siân, many thanks for the wonderful informative lecture today. I thought I would let you know I have had numerous emails from members already saying just how much they enjoyed the lecture, the format and how they felt you were speaking to them directly. So, many thanks again, the impression on our members will be long lasting”
The Arts Society High Wycombe

“I just wanted to send my huge thanks and appreciation to you for getting our first ever online “Stories of Art” off to such a fantastic start. I will miss your company every Wednesday evening, and I know hundreds of others will too. At risk of repeating my other messages, your delivery style, manner, passion and incredible knowledge brought something very special to the course which has now set the bar very high!”
Head of Learning and National Programmes, The National Gallery

“You’re a star. On behalf of the committee I should like to thank you enormously for the excellent ‘virtual’  lecture last night. We’ve been inundated with enthusiastic messages from our members. We so appreciate the time and effort you put into making it all possible”
