Art History in Focus Anniversary Party at The Estorick Collection

Wednesday 19th June 6.30PM BST

INTRODUCTION

Art History in Focus was founded in 2004 so this year will be our 20th birthday, and we are celebrating in style!

Join us for a very special anniversary party at the Estorick Collection in London. We have hired the museum for the evening for you to enjoy an exclusive private exhibition viewing, accompanied by delicious Venetian food and wine. Many of our lecturers and colleagues will be joining us, as well as lots of your favourite guides who will be flying in especially. We’d be delighted if you could come.

Everyone is most welcome to join us. Spaces are however limited and booking closes two weeks before the event, so we would recommend securing your place soon to avoid disappointment!

Important Note: Please check the event details below before booking, thank you.

VENUE

The Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, housed in an elegant Georgian building, opened in London in 1998 to house the exceptional collection of Eric and Salome Estorick, which includes masterpieces by Modigliani, Boccioni, Severini, Morandi, Giorgio de Chirico and many others.

During the evening you will have a chance to discover this fascinating and intimate collection and also enjoy a private viewing of a temporary exhibition “Sergio Strizzi: The Perfect Moment”, including a short introduction by the museum’s director, Roberta Cremoncini.

Sergio Strizzi (1931–2004) is considered one of the greatest still photographers of Italian cinema. He worked with Italy’s top film directors, including Antonioni and De Sica, as well as internationally-renowned figures such as John Huston and Peter Greenaway, and as a photographer on the sets of several James Bond films. The exhibition chronicles his career and showcases many of his evocative portraits of icons of cinematic history, including Sophia Loren, Marcello Mastroianni, Jeanne Moreau and Monica Vitti.

CATERING

Food and wine will be served throughout the evening. There will be a large selection of delicious Venetian cicchetti with plenty of choice, as well as white wine, prosecco and soft drinks.

Important note – we are catering for the following dietary requirements: vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free and gluten free.  There is no need to advise us if you require these options – the catering staff will be sure to look after you on the day.

However, the evening would not, with regret, be suitable for those with severe food allergies such as a nut allergy, and we are unable to cater for any other specific food requirements other than those cited, although please note that plenty of choice will be available. Thank you for your understanding.

Other drinks other than those mentioned will not be available, for reasons of insurance within the gallery.

We regret we are unable to offer refunds on unused tickets, but tickets may be transferred to someone else for the event you have booked, as long as we are advised before 18th June at the latest (please send us an email in office hours and let us know the name of the person who will be taking your place).

Train strikes in London do occur and whilst we very much hope that our party will not coincide with any industrial action, we would recommend checking that you are able to reach the venue using an alternative method of transport, should this occur.

If you are planning to spend some time in London, you may like to combine your visit with one of the following summer exhibitions, or others:
