Friends’ In-Person Event: A Private Tour of Mansion House and its Art Collection

Tuesday 28th May 3.00PM BST

Friends of Art History in Focus are invited to join us for a specially arranged, private viewing of Mansion House and its sumptuous art collection.

Mansion House is the home of the Lord Mayor of London and one of the most exquisite Georgian town houses in London. It houses The Harold Samuel Collection Art Collection, which comprises 84 Dutch and Flemish masterpieces bequeathed by Sir Harold Samuel (1912-1987). One of the finest groups of Old Master paintings assembled in Britain over the past hundred years, it includes works by Aelbert Cuyp, Nicolaes Maes, Jan Steen, Jacob van Ruisdael and Pieter de Hooch. A particular highlight of the collection is Frans Hals’ Merry Lute Player, which was one of the star loans in the National Gallery’s recent Frans Hals exhibition.

Our private guided tour, which will last approximately 90 minutes, will be followed by a wine reception at a nearby restaurant.

This is a complimentary event organised for Friends of Art History in Focus only – click here for more details about our Friends programme.  Please note that this is an in-person (not an online) event.

Update: this event is now fully booked but please do send us an email if you would like to be notified if spaces become available.
